Doug Aitken Parley for the Oceans Tote
Parley for the Oceans is an initiative focused on cleaning our oceans and shorelines. This tote bag is made from Parley’s Ocean Plastic®, an eco-innovative, premium material made from upcycled and intercepted plastic from the sea that replaces the use of virgin plastic. This reusable tote is also a stylish way to reduce everyday shopping-bag waste. The bag is 15” tall with a 9.5" handle drop, and includes an attached pouch which the tote bag can be folded into—so you can keep it with you whenever you need an extra bag.
This Parley for the Oceans Tote Bag features artwork by Doug Aitken, inspired by his collaboration with Parley, Underwater Pavilions, that was presented in Los Angeles. The work consists of three large-scale sculptures installed beneath the ocean’s surface. The works were first tethered to the seabed off Catalina Island in California. This immersive work—experienced through diving, snorkeling, swimming and video installations—invites viewers to craft a personal narrative to protect the oceans. Aitken’s work is represented in MoMA’s collection.Parley for the Oceans
