Description
Ludo is a simplified version of the traditional Indian Cross and Circle game, Pachisi, which originated in the 6th century. The earliest evidence of the game in India is the depiction of boards in the caves in Ajanta in Maharashtra. It was also played by the Mughal emperors of India, a notable example being Akbar who played ‘living’ Pachisi using young women from his harem.
Pachisi was modified to use a cubic dice with dice cup and patented as ‘Ludo’ in England in 1896.
