Description

A varietal of genuine sunflowers, named for the artist who made them famous, are grown and harvested in Japan, then captured in acrylic to create a permanent moment of beauty in your home. The Van Gogh Sunflower Objet d’Art is the brainchild of artist and cinematographer Takao Inoue, who enjoys capturing simple, ephemeral moments to “stare at you [and] make you happy,” and is known for creating similar works with dandelions and tulips. The Van Gogh Sunflower Objet d’Art is made in Japan and measures 5.15h x 2.75w x 2.75”d.

Why We Chose This

Back in 2009, Japanese designer Takao Inoue created a breathtaking and proprietary technique to suspend live flowers in acrylic. Inoue’s newest experiment is with the sunflower, and the particular varietal he chose to immortalize is called the van Gogh in homage to one of Vincent van Gogh’s most well-known and beloved motifs. Van Gogh’s work was first exhibited at MoMA in our first-ever exhibition in 1929 entitled Cezanne, Gaugin, Seurat, van Gogh.
